Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Manufacturing - written to industry standards
In January 2006, new EU HACCP Legislation was introduced into the UK and necessitated a revision of UK food training. The old Basic Food Hygiene course was ‘married’ with the new HACCP regulations, and re- christened Food Safety Training Level 2 for Manufacturing. At the same time, similar courses for catering and retail were introduced.
Understanding the importance of external verification, we have worked to achieve the first full on-line accredited course in partnership with the UK awarding body City and Guilds.
The course is divided into 5 lessons:
- The importance of food safety.
- Personal hygiene.
- Safe cleaning and use of chemicals.
- Food safety hazards.
- Temperature control and safe food storage.
By its very nature, a level 2 course is complex and has a comprehensive learning content. We therefore will allow users to ‘dip’ in and out of the learning content until they are thoroughly happy that they have understood the learning.
We deliver training to Big Brand Media, ITV for Britain’s Best Dish.

The test follows the standards. It has a 30 multi-choice question range (from a variable bank of 90 questions) of which the candidates must achieve 20 correct answers to obtain a certificate.
The candidate will fill in a registration form which will be automatically sent toCity and Guilds, and when the paper has been electronically marked, the results will be recorded. The candidate has the option to print out their marked paper. The successful candidate can instantly print their certificate. This is the simplest, most convenient way to achieve compliance.
